WHAT
IS SAC?
The Southern Agents Conference was founded in 1971 to provide a
communication forum for Independent Insurance Agents throughout the Southeast.
Membership includes agencies which are members of the
Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA)--in Alabama, Arkansas,
District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North
Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
SAC is primarily a sounding board for agents to relay
common concerns to national industry organizations (IIABA, ISO, NCCI, etc.), as they solve
common problems through small-group interaction. Members convene annually in Atlanta for
the SAC Workshop, which attracts 250 agents, colleagues and family.
IIABA Officers and staff address the group, which then
break out into small focus groups, including State Officers, National Directors, State
Execs, Young Agents, Benefits & Services, Commercial Lines, Education, Legislative
Affairs, Personal Lines, and Technology. |

2011 SAC Workshop Draws Record Crowd.
Over 250 agents, partners, Big 'I' staff, and family convened at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead
in Atlanta, December 9-11, for 2011 SAC Workshop. SAC Chairman Tom Cotton (Hugh
Cotton - Orlando, Florida) led the group through a full weekend of networking and
hard-hitting discussions. Volunteers from the fifteen southeastern state
associations led six committees and four state-leadership groups through lively
agenda--packed with real-life, take-it-home information designed to benefit all members in
the Southeast.
And went shopping at the malls!
Keynote speakers included Bobby Reagan, CPCU - Reagan Consulting in
Atlanta; IIABA Chairman Mike Donahoe - James R. Weir Insurance
Agency - Monkato, MN; and Charles Symington - IIABA Sr. Vice President, Government
Affairs.
Generous sponsors represented nearly twenty company, broker, and vendor
colleagues, who both supported the event financially and participated in
the lively discussions--in meeting rooms, receptions, dinners, and shopping at
the malls!
Don Evans - Coastal Insurance in Shalotte, NC, was elected Chairman for
2012, and
Lee Schilling - Schilling & Reid Insurance Agency in Amite, LA - will serve as
Vice Chairman.
Tom Cotton will continue on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chairman.
